How many years does a British degree take to complete?
An undergraduate degree takes three academic years to complete. The entry qualification for a British degree is Level 3 and you study at Levels 4, 5 and 6. To understand the different levels is worth knowing. The only exception to the three years is that medicine takes 5 or 6 years to complete.

The entry qualifications to a British degree at level 3 are A Levels and pre-degree foundation. When you graduate you will be at Level 6, which is entry to a masters. On completion of your masters you will level 7 which is the entry for PhD and on completion of a PhD you will be at level 8

Sandwich or placement year
A sandwich course will last four years and involve spending one year at a work placement related to your field of study. Not many people know that the tuition fees for the sandwich year are much lower than a taught year, often between £1,000 and £3,000 and sometimes you are paid during your placement. The UK has reinstated their three-year work visa. To get this visa you need a job. If you have worked on a placement year, two very important things to know. Firstly, you have work experience, brilliant to add to your CV and talk about at an interview. Secondly, the placement organisation may be so impressed with you, they offer you a post-study visa job opportunity.

Subjects areas to study
Business, finance, and management, computing, law, art and design, engineering, social science, medicine, science and pharmacy, media and humanities. One tip, whatever you study at undergraduate will not necessarily determine what you do for the rest of your life. During your undergraduate degree, you will find out what you like and don’t like and on completion, you will have a better idea of your career path. At the Master’s level, you can be more focussed or even change your career path.
